Stainless Steel Knurled glovebox key for MGB/C

A safer, smarter glovebox key for MGB/C owners

On classic MGB and MGC models, accessing the glovebox requires a key—meaning you have to remove it from the ignition just to open the compartment. For most drivers, that’s an annoying inconvenience. If the engine is running, you’re out of luck—unless you’re driving a Frontline with keyless start.

The typical workaround? Leave the glovebox key permanently in place. It solves the issue, but creates a new one: a sharp metal object sticking out, perfectly aligned with your passenger’s forehead. In the unfortunate event of an accident, that key becomes a real hazard.

That’s exactly what one Frontline MGC owner pointed out during their restoration. They wanted to keep the key in place for ease of use—but without putting their passenger at risk.

Our solution? A bespoke glovebox knob, precision-machined in stainless steel. We welded the original key to a custom-turned component, then knurled the edge for effortless grip. The result is a smooth, button-style knob that feels as good as it looks—completely removing the sharp projection while enhancing the cabin's finish.

It’s a small detail, but one that transforms both safety and usability. With added weight and a jewel-like finish, the new glovebox key feels like it always belonged—substantial, secure, and beautifully engineered.

This kit includes an entire glovebox lock assembly, with two keys, one original, another knurled.
