If you're seeking braking performance even greater than our 4-pot billet alloy disc brake kit, you'll be pleased to see our Supersport kit is now available for purchase, after being unique to our full restorations for years.
This kit features a 14mm larger, ventilated disc than our standard 4-Pot upgrade, and still reduces the unsprung weight compared to the factory MGB calliper/disc combination. This is due to the two-piece construction and aluminium disc bell. As well as reducing weight, the alloy design dissipates heat more efficiently than a solid steel disc, and ensures braking temperatures are reduced considerably, thus preventing excessive heat of the pad, disc, fluid, and associated components such as wheel bearings.
A larger calliper enables the use of a larger brake pad, further enhancing the clamping force of this billet alloy design. Like all our brake kits, the calliper has been engineered around an OEM brake pad, to guarantee long-term availability of a vast range of compounds, to suit every application. Amongst other things, these pads are used in the Jaguar XJ220!
This complete bolt-on kit is supplied with slotted 287mm discs for more effective heat dissipation and to deglaze the brake pad in extreme circumstances, subsequently optimising pedal feel throughout the life of the kit. The pads supplied are intended for fast road and circuit use, and have an operating range of 20c-500c. Please contact us if you would like to discuss an alternative pad for your application.
While our standard 4-pot upgrade can be used in conjunction with the factory MGB drum rear brakes, we strongly advise upgrading to our rear disc brake conversion, and our brake servo kit, to get the very best out of our Supersport package. Failure to do this may result in a braking imbalance and a pedal feel which is uncomfortable.
These brakes are designed to be compact and are suitable for most 15" wheels, and are often used by us in conjunction with 6" diameter wires, and our Dunlop-Style wheels.
